DLAU is a 501 (c) (3 ) non-profit organization whose aim is to participate in the reconstruction and development of Haiti. We intend to achieve our goal by helping young adults gain access to marketable skills and by helping entrepreneurs create and scale businesses. In turn these businesses will create employment,  economic activity and products that can be consumed both locally and via export.

We strongly believe that job creation is one way to give hope to our youth and preserve the middle class in Haiti.

The Leadership Team

  • Jose Voyard

    Chairman of the Board

    Jose Voyard is the president/CEO and founder of American Computer Consultants (ACC), based in Queens Village, NY.

    In 1991, while still in college, Mr. Voyard founded his first company – DSI Computer Services (DSI). By 1996, the company had grown from revenues of $34,000 in the 1st year to over $1,400,000 in sales.

    At the City College of New York (CCNY), Mr. Voyard showed his first signs of leadership when he founded the first Men’s Volleyball Team and the first student-owned-and-operated Computer Learning Center. He was later elected Senator, then President of the Student Government of the CCNY. During his tenure, he and a group of students led one of the most successful student protests in the history of CUNY, thus forcing then Governor Mario Cuomo to rescind his proposed tuition hike.

    He received many prestigious awards from the CCNY Black Faculty Association as well as from the College President.

    Mr. Voyard has been a member of many Haitian community organizations, the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CACCI), and the Association of Minority Enterprises of New York (AMENY). He has served as a board member and chair of the Haitian American Business Network (HABN). He has also served as a board member, vice chair and chairman of the Flushing YMCA board of managers for over nine years. Most recently Mr. Voyard has served as Chairman of the Board of DLAU (Diaspora Loving Ayiti in Unity) for the past year and a half.

  • Gerald Emmanuel Rabel

    Gerald Emmanuel Rabel

    Gerald Emmanuel Rabel is an Educator who teaches Architectural Drafting & Design, Revit and AutoCAD Architecture, and Construction Drawings to High School and College students at the NYC Department of Education and the City University of New York (CUNY) for over twenty-five years. Mr. Rabel believes that all children should have access to Education in an environment where they can grow mentally, emotionally, morally, physically, and socially. “It is a lifetime gift, and giving is an art.” In addition to Educating young people, he is the proud owner of Grabel Holdings, LLC. - An architectural drafting, expediting, construction consulting, and properties management firm located in Baldwin, NY.

    Mr. Rabel holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture – The City College of New York (CUNY), and a Master of Science in Facilities Management – Pratt Institute

    CEO AND FOUNDER OF JB&J LLC

    Bachelor of Science: Mathematics, City College of New York, CUNY, 1997

    Math Teacher: Highly skilled in planning strategies, and applying mathematical skills for the developmental stages of students' achievement.

    Master of Science: Psychology/Counseling, 2003 Long Island University.

    Mr. Joseph is trained to give guidance on personal, social, or psychological problems.

    “Sharing knowledge and guiding people to information has been a driving force for me and I am a firm believer in the way Education can open doors. I am excited by the possibilities our efforts could create for young men and women in Haiti”

    Karl-Henri is an HR Technology and Tech Education professional. He also holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering.

    Current interests include Robotics, Data Analytics, Data Science but also History and Arts.

    Karl-Henri also volunteers for First Robotics competitions but also sings in a Church Choir and teaches Religious Education.

    Michelle is a Speech Pathologist. She’s passionate about kids’ welfare and is dedicated to improve the lives of children in her home country of Haiti.

  • Marie Carline St-Hilaire

    Board member; Strategic Partnership and Planning Committee

    Philanthropist, Educator, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Care Coordinator and Manager with a background in Law Enforcement.

    Board Member

    Jean-Mary is an experienced Senior Quality Assurance Specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the transportation/trucking and railroad industry. Skilled in Analytical Skills, Operations Management, Quality Management, and ISO Standards.

    Jean-Mary holds a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) focused in Transportation Engineering & Planning from Institute for Transportation Systems, Grove School of Engineering as well as a bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the same Institution.

  • Johnny Abraham

    Johnny Abraham

    Board Member

    Johnny Abraham has been working in the financial services industry since 1994. He has over 28 years of experience educating middle income families on how to reach their financial potential.

    Johnny's philosophy is to bring Wall St to Main st. Johnny is passionate about the difference he makes with middle income families in the communities. One of Johnny's proudest accomplishments is to see the difference it makes when a child utilizes the funds their parents have set aside for their college savings. Johnny can attest to this personally with his oldest son Arnold who graduated from St John's University debt free. Johnny has also assisted numerous families set up retirement accounts. Johnny is particular passionate about the retiree experience.

    Johnny graduated from the City College of New York with a bachelor of science in mathematics. He holds finance licenses in NY, NJ, CN, PA, VA, GA, FL, TX & WA.

    He is the proud father of 2 lovely children Arnold & Chrysta. They are the love of his life. Johnny enjoys cooking, playing soccer, boating, reading , telling jokes.
